  • Role of sociologist in the ‘Valuation of Groundwater’ project which forms part of the ‘SADC groundwater and drought management program’. Responsibility on project is to assess how SADC communities value underground water.

  • Updating the data on inadequate sanitation systems (bucket and pit latrines) for the five Northern Cape districts.

  • Research and determine factors that contribute to a sustainable sanitation project in the Northern Cape Province.

  • An evaluation of waterborne sanitation in the semi-rural, poverty-stricken communities of Vosburg and Brandboom in the Northern Cape Province.
  • Preparation of Water Services Development Plans for 16 local municipalities in the Karoo and Namaqualand regions of the Northern Cape Province: wrote chapters for each plan on the institutional capacity and responsibilities of local government with respects to the provision of water to communities.

 

National Community Water and Sanitation Training Institute, South Africa  

  • Capacity building and training in water and sanitation issues for institutions at both provincial and local government level in South Africa.

  • An evaluation of empowerment of local community-based agents in water and sanitation projects in Namaqualand, Northern Province.

  • Research the relationship between land reform and access to water in the Northern and Western Cape provinces, with special emphases on the implications of the National Water Act (Act No 36 of 1998).

  • Four evaluations of remote rural water and sanitation projects funded by AUSAID in the Northern Province of South Africa using participatory methods.
